Wezzy's Story

I am the middle child of 13, so my family is always celebrating and making desserts. After I got my first job working at a bakery, I became my family’s designated baker. My dad started teasing me that I would open the bakery’s first franchise, but my response was always the same: laugh it off. Baking wasn’t something I thought would be my career; I figured baking would be a hobby or something to do after retirement.
Even though I didn’t see baking as a career, I dreamed of starting a business one day. As a teenager, I spent more time than I would like to admit daydreaming of business ideas or finding ways to solve problems I saw around me. Yet, becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t my focus until my early 20’s.
For most of my teenage years, I planned to be a nurse. I went as far as completing an associate degree in general studies specializing in Pre-BSN. However, just a couple of months before I would begin, my heart shifted. I realized there were others dreams inside me I had yet to discover.
That sudden shift led me to Harrisonburg, VA, where I worked at a local bakery that re-sparked my love for baking. Unfortunately, my husband and I relocated to the southern part of Virginia when he was offered a job there. After the move, I struggled to find professional fulfillment. This led me to rethink what my career goals were. Then it hit me: why not start a bakery, and why not start it now? In July 2020, I began developing a business model, perfecting my recipes, and educating myself on running a business. I officially launched in April of 2022.
While planning to open the bakery, I was blessed with my first child. Becoming a mom and learning to juggle all that entails helped me understand the need for convenience in the baking industry. I have set out to find ways to help my customers enjoy a convenient and hassle-free ordering process. In my personal life, I prioritize finding ways to celebrate the people in my life. My goal is to come alongside my customers to help make celebrating their loved ones fun and easy.
I started Wezzy’s Bakery because my passion is baking, and I hope to change the way desserts are ordered. My goal is to give my customers complete control over the ordering process. No more guessing with pricing. No more worrying about placing an order during business hours. And one less stop to make before your big event. I want to make ordering desserts a piece of (cup)cake.

My Family

My husband and I moved to Reidsville the summer of 2020. We were expecting our first child, and were searching for a great community to start our family. Moving in the middle of the pandemic made it difficult to learn all there is about Reidsville, but slowly we have made Reidsville our home. Our most visited place outside the grocery stores hehe is Lake Reidsville. Our go to restaurant is Elizabeth's Pizza. And we love taking our friends and family to Mayberry's for ice cream!
